Have you ever had a long day of work and found yourself in a bad mood? Nothing was going right, and you just need to put the day behind you. So you finally make it home, open the door, and get greeted by your best little buddy in the world. Suddenly, the day doesn’t seem so bad anymore.

When you have a dog at home, one of the best things about it is coming home to them at the end of the day. The excitement and appreciation is so rewarding, and anyone who has a dog knows exactly what I’m talking about.
Now imagine if you got to feel that with several different dogs throughout the day, and got paid to do it! Well you’re expected to do a little more than just that, but hear me out.
When you come to a dog’s house as their walker, the dog associates you with only that. You’re the person who shows up only to give them attention, bring them outside for exercise, and reward them with treats.
Yay, Eric’s here for belly rubs!
The bond you end up making with some of these dogs is unique in that regard, and I’ve even heard from clients on several occasions that the way their dog reacts towards their walker almost makes them jealous.
You’re basically doggy Santa Claus, except you show up way more often.

I’ve been a dog walker now for around 7 years. In that time I’ve stepped away from it for awhile to try different avenues, but always found myself missing it and wanting to come back. While the weather can sometimes be terrible, and days can be long and exhausting…what makes it all worth it, is that sense of friendship and appreciation that you feel from your dogs throughout the day.
There’s nothing quite like it, and it’s not a bad way to earn a living!
